Big Ten Athletes of the Week-January 25, 2010

The Big Ten, who introduced their new logo this week, chose a Minnesota woman and Indiana man as their Big Ten Athletes of the Week.

Minnesota Gopher Natallia Pintusava of Belarus was chosen as this week’s woman’s athlete after she picked up three wins last weekend during the team’s matches against Marshall and Kentucky. The victories included one over 27th ranked Michaela Kissell of Marshall. Pintusava, ranked 51 by the ITA, was making her collegiate debut in that match. She also picked up two doubles wins with partner Yuliana Umanets, also a freshman.
Sophomore Josh MacTaggart, who is from the UK, was undefeated over last weekend as he helped Indiana register wins against North Carolina State and IUPUI. This is the first honor of MacTaggart’s college tennis career and he earned it by beating Dominic Hodgson of NC State and Ivan Mojsejev of IUPUI in singles. He also teamed with fellow Hoosier Stephen Vogl for doubles victors at both dual matches.
