After the majority of Big Ten players in the Pre-Qualifying and Qualifying of the ITA All American Championships failed to move on, a select few finished the tournament with good showings.
Buckeye Chase Buchanan, the fifth-seed at the D’Novo/ITA Men’s All American Championships at the University of Tulsa, was upset in the second round of singles by Tennessee’s Rhyne Williams (6-4,7-6), but he made up for it in the doubles. Buchanan and teammate Blaz Rola took it all the way to the finals, taking out seventh-seeded Brad Cox and Eric Quigley of Kentucky in the process. In the trophy match they dropped a tough 6-4,6-7,6-3 to Virginia’s Drew Courtney and Michael Shabaz, the reigning NCAA champions.
