This past weekend was a busy one for a lot of past and present Big Ten players as they hit the USTA Professional Circuit.
It was a successful weekend for players from Illinois and Ohio State. At the Nielsen Pro Tennis Championship in Winnetka, Illinois, Illini graduate Ryler DeHeart won the doubles crown with partner Pierre-Ludovic Duclos. The duo defeated the team of Rik De Voest and Somdev Devvarman. It was a tight match with a final score of 76(4), 4-6,1-0(10-8).
Present Buckeye Chase Buchanan, the Big Ten Men's Player of the Year, joined his former teammate Bryan Koniecko at the Linda Bogdan Memorial Futures Tournament in Rochester, New York. The team made the finals before bowing 6-3,6-4 to Texas A&M grad Conor Pollack, playing with Cory Parr, who finished at Wake Forest University last year.
