Purdue takes fourth at Boise State Spring Break Classic

March 30, 2010
The Purdue men spent their spring break between the beautiful mountains of Idaho at the Boise State Spring Break Classic

Day one was a long one and the first outdoor match the Boilmakers had played in quite awhile.  They adjusted quickly and beat Cal Poly, 4-2.  Coach Pawel Gajdzik described the morning play as "solid." Unfortunately,  the afternoon was a lot tougher.

The No. 71 Purdue men came up against 52nd ranked Boise State on their own turf.  The match was all Bronco as the Boilmakers fell 7-0.  On day two there was another chance for Purdue to pick up a win as they faced Cornell for the third place playoff.  The match started in their favor as they picked up the doubles point.  The singles matches were close with three three-setters. Cornell's Jonathan Fife defeated Eric Ramos in a 7-6(3),6-7(6),6-3 battle and the Big Red took the match 4-3.

The Purdue men will be back in Big Ten action when they host Indiana on Friday evening.  The women, who were off this week, are at Indiana on Saturday.
